There are many foreigners in the municipality — 16% are foreigners and more then 25% has a background from another country, so it is very important that you vote.
But many do not vote – maybe because they don’t know that they can vote – We have to change that!
My goal is to include more foreigners in our decisions and to take part in our local society.
You can vote already now!
You can vote if, you are at least 18 years old and have a registered address in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality.
If you do not hold a Danish passport, you can still vote if you are an citizen of the EU, Iceland, Norway, or the UK.
Alternatively, if you come from another country but have lived in Denmark for at least 4 years (i.e., arrived before 18 November 2021).
Why should you vote?
The municipality decides on things such as:
- Schools and daycare institutions,
- Elderly care and health,
- Roads, buses, and the environment,
- Sports, leisure, and culture.
When you vote, you help choose the people who will make decisions about your city, your school, your roads, and your communities, so it is about your local area, your money, and your everyday life — your vote makes a difference!
I encourage you to use your vote – it matters – and you matters!
You can vote already now and up until Friday, 14 November 2025 by going to “Borgerservice” at the Town Hall, Lyngby Torv 17, 2800 Kgs. Lyngby.
Opening hours:
- Monday – Wednesday: 09:30 – 15:00
- Thursday: 09:30 – 17:30
- Friday: 09:00 – 13:30
Borgerservice will also be open for early voting on the following dates:
- Saturday, 1 November: 10:00 – 14:00
- Saturday, 8 November: 10:00 – 14:00
- Thursday, 13 November: 17:30 – 20:00
- Friday, 14 November: 13:30 – 18:00
You do not need to book an appointment; just show up and take a number for the queue.
You only need to bring identification, e.g., passport, driver’s license, or health card.
You can vote for a party or a specific candidate. If you want to vote for a party and not a candidate you just fill in the letter of the party in the first box.
Think about which person you want on the municipal council, not which party you prefer – personal votes determine who gets elected.
It’s hard to understand all the differences between candidates – it’s a bit like shopping: you try to weigh all the differences, but in the end, it’s maybe just a “taste” or gut feeling that decides what you choose.
If you don’t know who you want to vote for, you can cast a blank vote – that way, you still participate in the election!
The ballot looks like the example below. In the box labeled “Bogstavbetegnelse,” you should write a single letter that identifies the political party you want to vote for.
In the box “Kandidatnavn” you can specify the name of the candidate you want to vote for.

If you do not vote before the 14 November, you can only vote on election day Tuesday, 18 November, and you must bring your voting card, which will be sent to you by mail.
